The team:
In Marketing and Digital, everything we do is about the customer journey. We’re the storytellers of the brand, from understanding what our customers need, to creating social media content that stops the scroll. You’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at how we design adverts, manage our website, and build campaigns that drive people into our stores. It’s a fast-paced, creative environment where your ideas can help us reach millions of DIYers and tradespeople.

You'll learn:
  • How we turn customer "insights" into business decisions.
  • The step-by-step process of taking a marketing campaign from a "lightbulb moment" to store and how all the areas of marketing work together to achieve this. 
  • Why our digital presence is the front door to our business.
  • How creative marketing directly drives business growth and keeps our customers engaged.

What you’ll do:
  • Get to know customer insight in one of our key category areas (Paint)
  • Have the opportunity to take this learning into a creative output with the in-store marketing team with radio adverts and brochure front covers 
  • Have a go at creating some social content 
  • Understand how different areas of the digital team work together and have the opportunity to build your own email

Who we’re looking for:
What matters most to us is your positive attitude and potential. And you’d need the following:
  • Be 16 years or over
  • A positive energy and you like a fast-paced environment!
  • You’re curious about how business works
  • You’ve got good communication skills
What we offer:
Our work experience is a voluntary placement focused on your personal development. While there is no salary, we’ll cover for your lunch  and travel each day.

Our recruitment process

  1. Apply: Upload your CV and tell us why you’re interested in joining Wickes.
  2. Interview: A short online chat during the week commencing 18 May so we get to know each other better.
  3. Start of your work experience: join us for an action-packed week from Monday 6 to Friday 10 July 2026.
