Programme overview

Our training is structured so you receive a strong foundation in finance and accounting while preparing you for a fast-moving industry. You’ll work through key areas of the business, supported by experienced finance professionals who’ll help you grow your skills, confidence, and career.

The culture is really friendly. We have literally had lunch with managers and even the CFO. Everyone’s really approachable

Length of our programme

The 3-to-4-year scheme, which varies in length based on your qualification exemptions, works towards you becoming a qualified accountant. Upon completion, you’ll have the skills, experience, and professional qualification necessary for career progression.Subject to performance, we’ll be considering successful candidates for permanent finance management roles within Wickes. By the end of our programme, you’ll be a qualified accountant.

What you’ll gain (or what’s in it for you)

Comprehensive finance training: Develop expertise across core finance areas, including financial analysis, reporting, and business partnering.

Professional qualifications: You’ll study to become a qualified accountant with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Who we’re looking for

You're about to graduate or are a school leaver with a strong academic record, including a minimum of 3 Bs at A-Level (or equivalent) and grade 7 or above in both Maths and English at GCSE.

You’ve a real appetite to learn

You’ve a strong interest in finance and accounting and you’re not afraid to ask questions

You’re a confident communicator, you enjoy working with others and building relationships

You like to get involved in various projects, extra-curricular activities and learn new skills

Case study: complete a real world case study designed for you to showcase your financial mindset.

Assessment and interview: shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in an assessment process including interviews and aptitude tests.

Offer: successful candidates will receive a formal offer of employment to join the scheme
