Here at Wickes we are looking to recruit a Stay Safe/Health and Safety Manager.


Role Overview:

The  primary  purpose  of  this  role  is to ensure the management of the safety framework for the business in order to attain our vision of everyone's home being safe and well every day. You will do this by ensuring we are legally compliant, always reducing the risk of harm, and learning from when things go wrong. This role is key to supporting our development of a mature safety culture within our business. 


The role will ensure to support the development of business wide risk registers and improvement plans, working closely with the rest of the safety team and operational risk owners. You will use your  energy and  influence to support change across the business to ensure the effective management of risk and ensure colleague engagement.  


Key  Accountabilities


  • Work with stakeholders to deliver key elements of our stay safe strategy and local safety implementation plans.

  • Manage the coordination of our business wide safety risks registers 

  • Provide guidance and coaching to leadership across the business. 

  • Ensure the effective investigation of safety incidents and the implementation of actions to prevent a reocurrence.

  • Deliver a variety of health and safety related training in accordance with our improvement plans

  • Deliver Safety assurance activities in accordance with the annual plan.

  • Use a variety of performance measures to identify trends and improve safety, health and wellbeing performance. Sharing best practice and celebrating success across our operational areas. 

  • Act as a visible leader for the principles of Safety  through personal leadership style set the right tone at the top and establish an open culture encouraging a high level of communication and employer participation both internally and externally on Stay Safe issues. 


Additionally as part of the wider Stay Safe Team the role will:

  • Support the development and implementation of Business wide initiatives and activities including the development of new systems, tool and training.

  • Work collaboratively to share best practice and ideas

  • Support other Stay Safe Business Partners by adopting a flexible approach to inter-division working.
