Here at Wickes we are now recruiting for an exciting new role in the Wickes digital team.. Our new Ebay Store Manager will be pivotal in setting up and running our new channel due to launch in early 2022. If you are well organised, customer focused and excited about building a new sales channel for our growing business this is a brilliant opportunity to develop your career and skills further. 


What's involved:

Currently in the early project stages in late 2021 we will shortly select our ideal Wickes range for ebay. Working alongside the project team in commercial, Supply Chain, Customer services, Digital and Finance and with our IT partners you will help design the ebay business for Wickes and get us ready for launch in early 2022. Once the trial stage is live you will be key to optimising the experience for customers and the selling opportunities for Wickes. 


The Project will implement a new sales channel:

  • We will sell Wickes stocked in products on ebay and deliver to customer locations from the MCFC and store locations

  • We will select and build a cost effective and profitable range

  • We will work with outside parties to prepare the range and products to make it ebay compatible

  • We will trade for an initial 6 months(Trial phase in 2022) and learn what works best for Wickes in the marketplace environment.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Acts as a conduit between the project and the key functional areas impacted by this project ensuring that the Functional Stakeholders and teams are kept informed of developments through project and trial stages.

  • Provides leadership and support to the project team so that key activity for a successful ebay store is carried out as planned

  • Supports all aspects including: 

  • Project stage

    • Supports any workshops designed to understand or develop processes for the new shop.

    • Communicating progress to the business areas on a regular basis in support of the project.

    • Facilitating any local user testing in later phases in the project alongside IT resources  with responsibility to coordinate / lead and feedback on UAT related to their business area"

    • To learn any key ebay processes that will be needed to support the new store

    • Advises and supports the roll out planning and implementation stages for the shop alongside the project team.

    • Working with the project Team to drive smooth adoption and acceptance of the new product and any benefits realisation.

    • Attend and actively support the project Implementation meetings hosted by the project manager

    • Support ad-hoc Project activities as requested.

  • Trial/ Go Live stage

    • Works closely with the commercial and availability teams to range the channel for success

    • Optimises sales on a daily basis through our ebay partners, tools and our marketing opportunities

    • Supports the customer experience by responding to positive/ negative feedback on the ebay store.

    • Agrees any ongoing advice to operations on volumes and sales and how this might impact operational delivery of order processing etc.

    • Represents the store/channel as the face of ebay at Wickes.


Principal working relationships  

  • Internal 

    • Project Manager- setting up the ebay store ready to trade.

    • Commercial and Product availability teams- Range and availability performance

    • Finance teams- Tracking and understanding sales and profit performance

    • Product data- Supporting and championing good product data for the selected range.

    • Some work with IT to help outline the key requirements for the system changes.

    • ebay- agreeing the launch activity and subsequent marketing opportunities.

    • Building 3rd party relationships with new suppliers e.g. Feed Providers.

    • Senior stakeholders across the business- Sharing progress and performance.

    • Support the Sponsor with any specific operational needs or questions


  • External

    • New feed Solution Providers and ebay. 


Person Specification


  • Education / Skills and Competencies

  • A working knowledge of Retail/online selling.

  • Good organisational or project management skills- well organised.

  • Good communication skills and able to communicate effectively with senior management across all levels of the Company if needed.

  • Able to work independently at times

  • Interested in channel performance and looking for improvement ideas.

  • A team player.
