Wickes are a digitally led, service enabled organisation with a project in every home.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the MCFC team in a newly created role to support consistent growth of our ecommerce operation in Northampton. It offers an opportunity to drive and influence continuous improvement culture supporting current market trends and growth, as well as warehouse planning strategies to optimise efficient and lean operation. Ensuring stock holding is efficiently managed, recorded and reported in line with agreed procedures and audit requirements throughout MCFC product life cycle.

It is a great opportunity to join a growing ecommerce business that is seeing year on year growth of over 80%. We need someone to join us in our journey to help us prepare for future growth by reviewing our pick sequence and improving stock accuracy.  Engaging with various stakeholders to help with change management, colleagues engagement and improving consistency across all three shifts in regards to stock management. You will work with the fellow Line Managers, reporting directly into the Op’s Manager. You will also engage senior stakeholders giving updates on new efficiencies & ideas as well as periodic updates on performance measures/kpi.

What are we looking for?

  • Ability to look continuously for opportunities for improvement and to develop strategies for change to influence and shape the future direction of the business

  • Someone with proven management experience, preferably within ecommerce environment

  • Ability to influence others through persuasive arguments based on data and factual evidence.

  • Effective and collaborative change management in line with strategic objectives.

  • Flexibility in regard to work pattern (any 5 out of 7)

  • Enthusiastic approach to work, “can do attitude!”

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills 

  • Good relationship builder at all levels.

  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills and a confident presenter

  • The ability to consider the wider issues whilst paying attention to detail.

  • Ability to lead change of behaviours and engage other stakeholders to achieve consistent ways of working and shrinkage awareness

  • Strong stock background.

  •  Proven track record in reducing shrinkage through maintaining accurate stock files

  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office package (Google applications preferred but not essential


Key Accountabilities:



  • Managing all stock on our warehouse management system, carry out Investigation when there are stock issues identified to understand the root cause and apply relevant fixes

  • Ensure that files, reports and records are promptly and accurately updated 

  • Ensure compliance to procedures in all areas stock related.

  • Develop accurate reporting skills: end of month results, stock/PI count results, investigation and internal audit results

  • Able to work cross functionally both internally and externally with other parts of the Wickes business & Suppliers to ensure sufficient stock is available for orders generated from the Wickes website and to support lean ways of working in terms of promotions, best sellers and seasonal stock

  • Take full responsibility for all aspects of the management of stock -  auditing, compliance, monitoring , data and reporting

  • Develop a Stock and Systems strategy that aligns with the key MCFC milestones and business strategy to develop effective and accurate ways of working that respond to  Promo’s, Time limited promotions, peak planning.

  • To be accountable to work collaboratively with other line managers, supervisors, PI team and other colleagues to improve understanding of importance of stock management and to educate people in the best practice

  • Identify stock and systems inefficiencies and provide new ways of working.

  • Highlight and present suggested adjustments of the stock management practices with regards to the constraints, costs, risks and returns anticipated to look for continuous improvement opportunities through constructively challenging the ways of working 

  • Work collaboratively with PI team 

  • Support the operation at all times and at all levels.

  • Liaise with key stakeholders on matters surrounding inventory accuracy and auditing.

  • To ensure that stock/system KPI’s are supported and delivered by the MCFC team through utilising your influencing skills 

  • Develop consistent operating practice SOPs relating to systemic use and functions process surrounding these.

  • Building  a  collaborative  working  environment  where  people  take  accountability  for their  activities  and  engage  with  other  departments  to  deliver  the  overall  company objectives

  • Ensure the stock, auditing, admin and system teams have the adequate level of training and expertise at all times to support and guarantee highest performance of the operation.

  • Drive continuous improvement culture across all departments by creating brainstorming sessions and forums to drive costs down.

  • Ensuring   that   MCFC   teams   are   adhering   to   all   company   procedures,   legal requirements  and  are  promoting  the  implementation  of  safe  systems  of  work  and incident free work environment in line with Health & Safety SSOW & root cause analysis

  • Support culture change through engagement of colleagues and other stakeholders, top down and bottom down communication and education.

  • Manage the Admin Function ( IBTs, goods in and goods out function) as well as oversee PI count and work closely with PI manager
