An exciting opportunity for an experienced or newly qualified Finance Manager to join the Finance Property team. This role will be acting as the main point of contact in Property Finance for their financial analysis needs. This role will be responsible for driving the profitability of Property appraisals and communicating these through the production of management accounts, budgets, forecasts and project finance support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Business partner to the Property Director providing financial analysis, support and challenging numbers 
  • Ownership of the Property Programme - develop and deliver financial investment appraisal and post implementation reviews to assure appropriate allocation of investment capital/revenue for the store operational areas of the business (e.g. refit, new store opportunities) 
  • Responsible for the forecasting, budgeting, ongoing risks and opportunities, 5YP and longer term planning processes for the Property function, ensuring all stakeholders are appropriately engaged 
  • Central point of contact within Property Finance for the FP&A / FR&C team on all Wickes/Group deliverables 
  • Responsible for maintaining capex/opex portfolio and taking ownership of the CAPEX budget by understanding and communicating periodic variances whilst challenging stakeholders on spends 
  • Ownership of P&L costs associated with property plan, regularly challenging spends and understanding variances to then be communicated in Wickes/Group deliverables 
  • Driving a cost conscious and lean culture into the Operations function, providing relevant ad-hoc analysis and insight to Operations to drive bottom line profit 
  • Leadership, recruitment and development of a team of 2 financial professionals ensuring appropriate resourcing, skillset and structure to deliver effective business support.

You will need to have:
Essential skills and knowledge
  • Recognised accountancy qualifications (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent) 
  • Broad finance experience minimum 1yr + PQE
  • Ability to challenge engage and influence internal and external stakeholders 
  • Building and maintaining relationships with others to include key stakeholders and non-Finance team members 
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Experience of working to tight timescales and consistently meeting deadlines 
  • Proven record of implementing and maintaining robust financial controls/modelling 
  • High attention to detail and data accuracy 
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Retail industry knowledge 
  • Sound understanding of accounting/control and investment appraisal principles 
  • Preferred Experience 
  • Retail / FMCG experience
