The Shunter Driver is a key member of the distribution team working across both warehouse and transport functions. The shunter driver is responsible for the safe movement of vehicles on distribution sites. This could include large goods vehicles (LGVs) or trailers and can involve manoeuvring goods around the site, into storage or loading bays, or to be picked up by other colleagues. The role may also require movements of loaded/unloaded vehicles between distribution sites.

Hours of work
  • 22:00 - 06:00
  • 40 hours contracted hours
  • 6th Shifts available

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring the safe movement of large vehicles and trailers around the distribution site
  • Adhering to strict health and safety guidelines, reporting all hazard and near miss incidents
  • Completing vehicle/trailer checks
  • Coupling and uncoupling trailers
  • Opening/closing curtains and strapping of loads as required
  • Correct use of stop signs, wheel chocks and 5th wheel supports
  • Placing Trailers on/off loading bays or loading pads as required by the warehouse team
  • Placing containers on/off Dock levelling bays as required by the warehouse team
  • Dealing with fuel deliveries.
  • Ensuring that visiting drivers adhere to site rules
  • Ensuring Handovers between shifts

What are we looking for?
  • C+E Licence
  • Up to date CPC
  • No more than 6 points on your licence
  • Basic Maths/English
  • Basic IT skills
  • Working knowledge of WTD regulations
  • Good verbal communication skills
