We are delighted to be recruiting for a Social Media Marketing Assistant for our expanding in-house socal team within the marketing department at Wickes. This brand new role gives an exciting opportunity for a positive,  organised and responsive individual who is wanting to immerse themselves in social media for a growing and successful company.  


Based in our Watford Support Centre, the role is responsible for the day to day running of the organic social media content across several platforms, as well as leading our project work with influencers. This role is of growing importance to Wickes as we use social media to inspire new and existing customers with relevant, topical  and helpful content to support our showroom, DIY and trade parts of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Day to day management of all organic content across our social media accounts (Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Houzz). This will include:

    • formulating and managing the social content calendar  

    • sourcing engaging, relevant and helpful content for organic posts including writing copy and commissioning images/videos. 

    • Posting and scheduling content across all Wickes social media platforms.

    • Measuring and optimising all organic social activity and feeding into monthly reviews. 

  • Working with the social media manager to help develop the social media strategy, drive engagement and follower growth to help  achieve our objectives.

  • Networking with key internal stakeholders to uncover newsworthy opportunities which can be communicated through our social channels.

  • Ensuring our partnership activity with Absolute Radio and Talksport is maximised through social channels.

  • Writing briefs and discovering new influencers to work with us on collaborative projects throughout the year.

  • Continuously monitoring UGC from influencers, micro-influencers, ambassadors and customers and making recommendations to maximise this growing opportunity.


What we are looking for?

  • Graduate level

  • 1-2 years’ social media experience in-house or agency across a range of different platforms essential

  • Experience of Social Bakers or similar social planning tools

  • Meticulous attention to detail 

  • Excellent copywriting skills

  • Organised, reliable and responsive

  • Good analytical skills with the ability to draw insight from data

  • Creative flair (experience with creative tools such as Photoshop beneficial)

  • Proactive, confident and resilient

  • Team player
