Are you an experienced Software 
As part of our Digital Delivery team and reporting into our Head of Engineering, you will have responsibility for our stores UK wide, which encompasses hardware, software and ePOS. This will include leading our outsourced technical team and delivering short to medium term in-flight programmes, features and enhancements. 

The role will be critical to the success of Wickes business as we embark on a 5 year transformation journey. Transforming the store's technology and infrastructure are central to the success of Wickes.

The Role:
  • You’ll have an understanding of software testing and quality assurance processes, being able to define test strategies and ensuring thorough testing of developed solutions.
  • You’ll have excellent leadership and management skills to guide and motivate the development team. 
  • Proven track record in project management, with the ability to plan, organise, and coordinate development efforts, manage project risks and issues.  Agile methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban, are advantageous.
  • You’ll have an understanding of software testing and quality assurance processes, being able to define test strategies and ensuring thorough testing of developed solutions.
  • With solid, effective communication, you will be able to build strong relationships with various stakeholders within the business, including business users, project managers, executives, and other departments.
  • Managing stakeholder requirements, managing their expectations, and providing technical insights and recommendations to align development efforts with business goals.


Does this sound like you?
  • You’ll have knowledge of ePOS systems, PEDs, OMS and understand the integration between them.
  • Familiarity with retail systems and technologies is preferable, such as point-of-sale (POS), inventory management, e-commerce platforms and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
  • Retail industry experience or has a strong understanding of retail operations.
  • High level of personal integrity, as well as the ability to show an appropriate level of judgement and maturity.
  • A critical thinker, strong problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills.
  • You’ll have great interpersonal skills and an ability to build strong relationships at all levels and be able to influence.
