Come and join Wickes as our Sustainability Manager! Your role will be  helping us to achieve our ESG targets and sustainability ambitions. It will support Wickes journey to a Net Zero business, and work with a variety of stakeholders and teams to deliver operational improvements, strong analytics, and great ESG reporting. 


What you’ll be doing: 

  • Manage and analyse our environmental data sets including Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions

  • Support the implementation and reviews of our Net Zero and Science based targets frameworks

  • Support the end of year reporting process across all ESG and sustainability areas, including CDP and TCFD submissions

  • Maintain and be the point of contact for our ISO14001 Environmental Management System across our support centre, stores and distribution centres

  • Carry out horizon scans of emerging environmental policy and legislation and translate this for the business

  • Work closely with our Health and Safety team to support EHS audits and reporting

  • Support the property team in their analysis of estate opportunities using climate risk mapping tools

  • Build business cases to support our sustainability programmes, with a focus on energy efficiency in stores and distribution

  • Review and make recommendations on operational waste across the business to support our circular economy initiatives

  • Support the Head of Sustainability to build and integrate our Responsible Business strategy across the business, tracking progress of delivery

  • Collaborate with colleagues across the whole business to drive ESG performance and reporting

  • Provide guidance and support to the sustainability employee network to provide learning opportunities across the business and run events to increase engagement on ESG matters


What we’re looking for:

Wickes is proud of its culture, and we are looking for someone that feels at home in a fun, proactive, and progressive business environment, helping the business to deliver its mission to be the partner of choice for home improvers and local trade.  You will be an energy and environmental data superstar, with experience managing large amounts of data across Scopes 1, 2 and 3. You will also have a good working knowledge of key reporting frameworks like CDP, TCFD, and Greenhouse Gas reporting, and environmental legislation. You will have experience with operational environmental management, preferably ISO14001, and have a good understanding of managing a variety of waste streams.  Ideally you will have IEMA Associate membership or equivalent and be willing to expand your experience and knowledge in all aspects of sustainability, as we will be looking at supply chain, travel, electric vehicles, and digital footprint, to name a few.
