Job Description

We are delighted to be recruiting for an Accounts Payable Stock Team Leader to join our Finance team at Wickes. If you have leadership experience within a finance function, you are someone who provides exceptional support to people and thrives on delivering a great service, we would like to talk to you. Ideally, you will have experience managing small teams, driving, and supporting change, and experience of working within a busy high-volume, transactional finance retail team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, coach and mentor a team of 5/6 staff dealing with stock invoices. 

  • Ensure all stock invoices are processed correctly and within payment terms

  • Identify training and development needs for the team, build a plan to ensure these needs are met

  • Ensure team members are cross trained on all areas of Accounts payable.

  • Develop & manage strong relationships with key stakeholders of our business.

  • Responsible for the aged creditors, to ensure no monthly/year-end issues

  • Ensure queries are resolved quickly for all internal and external stakeholders

  • Assist with improving the current KPIs and develop new KPIs for the business

  • Review current controls and implement improvements

  • Responsible for key supplier accounts, building relationships and managing queries efficiently.

  • Provide Cashflow forecasting to the Accounts Payable Manager

  • Ensure compliance with supplier set ups on the system, liaising with relevant teams as required

  • Rectify any miss postings in a timely manner and ensure that improved processes are adopted to avoid miss postings in the future

  • Provide support to the finance function in terms of analytics and ad hoc requests

  • Generate Bacs runs and overseas payments as required

  • Assist with month end close, recoding, preparing accrual journal and ensuring all prepayments have been allocated.

  • Support the Accounts Payable Manager and Head of Financial Transactions


What are we looking for from you?

  

  • Minimum of two years of leadership experience, ideally in a retail environment.

  • For you to be a natural leader, someone who uses a coaching approach to get the best out of people

  • To be self-motivated, and a self-starter, but also able to build relationships and work as part of a team

  • Must be comfortable with high volumes of transactions and be able to manage different workstreams and prioritise workload

  • To have strong attention to detail and a high level of computer accuracy

  • A confident communicator; written and verbal

  • A positive can-do attitude, especially when faced with challenges and time constraints
