We are looking to recruit a Data Quality Manager to join our Head Office Team here in Watford….


Main purpose of job:

Support the Commercial teams and the wider business by delivering business critical analysis, allowing the business to practice data led decision making. Achieve this by clear and concise communication of occasionally complex information, suitable for various audiences, to support the commercial teams in a wide variety of areas. The Data Quality Manager will be accountable for the roll out of a data governance framework, with a focus on improvement of data quality and the protection of sensitive data through modifications to standards, principles, governance metrics and processes; including implementation of a Data Ownership policy with clear defined roles and responsibilities. Good quality data is essential and the role is responsible to ensure that Data Quality rules and validation are in place to ensure that only data that meets certain quality criteria is accepted into TP systems.  DQ rules should be continuously reviewed and improved. This will allow the Wickes business to adapt and thrive in the fast moving world of modern retail,  increasing customer loyalty, sales, profit and market share.

Key responsibilities:

  • The  Data Quality Manager is responsible for the quality of the data held in the commercial systems 
  • The role is responsible for collation and creation of Data standards and guidelines ensuring the quality of all data throughout the change management process, ensuring changes are prioritised and co-ordinated across business units, suppliers and users when the changes are implemented
  • To agree and implement global data rules in line with agreed governance procedures and communicate rules to business stakeholders
  • Supporting Business functions in delivering a Global Data Governance 
  • Owns the configuration of the Data Quality policies, standards and principle rules and deals with data quality related queries from internal and external (suppliers) customers
  • Ensures that appropriate Data Quality reporting is available and accurate for users
  • Review of Data Quality Standards and helps to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements as well as reviewing and following Global Data Standards
  • Define indicators of performance and quality metrics and ensure compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities, and adoption requirements with the aim of Improving Data Quality 
  • Working with and assisting users and suppliers in adding, updating and deleting data, attributes and changes to the Hierarchy structures
  • To build and maintain a working relationship with each business unit and key stakeholders to understand their data requirements
  • To embed themselves within brand Multichannel Web Merchandising teams, Marketing teams, Product Ranging teams and Commercial teams and plan ongoing data changes
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the Business ensuring all Business units understand Data Management priorities & plans
  • Ability to publish and demonstrate proposals to key stakeholders across all business units and feeding back to project steering groups
  • Business critical workload planning, system development and working with developers  
  • Accountable for producing and maintaining the Data Quality strategy (for all data types - starting with Product)
  • Lead a team of data administrators who own and maintain the Data Quality rules and setup within the IT system.  Provides direction and management to ensure that the data strategy is being driven towards
  • Owns the configuration of the Data Quality rules and deals with Data Quality related queries from internal and external users (Suppliers).  Ensures that appropriate Data Quality reporting is available and accurate for suppliers and internal users.  Deals with Commercial departments to provide with communication and direction for charges to suppliers that fail to meet their minimum DQ commitments
  • Responsible for the Data Quality rule change control process and for the release of changes changes across the systems and Business Units
  • Line management and performance management of Data Quality team.  Ensure that objectives and personal development plans are in place for all team members
  • Review Data Quality Standards and helps to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements as well as reviewing and following Global Data Standards
  • Accountable for the maintenance and guardianship of metadata (taxonomy)

What are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will be adaptable, have good time management, enjoy problem solving and have a cheerful office demeanour. As a part of a hard working, dedicated team you will need the confidence to build relationships, be prepared to work at pace, hold your own under pressure and most of all not be afraid to get stuck in. We are also looking for:

    • Project Management and Business Process experience and qualifications 

    • Strong management skills and a good technical background (dealing with coding)

    • Knowledge of Data Management techniques, industry standards and IT solutions

    • Knowledge of Data Governance practices and approaches related DPA & GDPR 

    • MDM systems & approaches 

    • Experience in organising and streamlining data processes

    • Data migration and cleanse processes

    • People Management & development

    • Extensive administration or retail experience

    • Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills

    • Highly organised, methodical and has high attention to detail

    • Able to work under pressure to tight deadlines

    • Self-motivated and able to problem solve

    • Highly proficient in IT systems - MS Applications

    • Ability to understand and write technical documentation

    • Experience with MS Office and data programs

    • Familiarity with administrative duties

    • Excellent knowledge of correct spelling, grammar and punctuation

    • Confidentiality

    • Organisation skills, with an ability to stay focused on assigned tasks

    • Office based role as it requires constant communication with Commercial teams and adhoc meeting inside the team
