Wickes have something great to shout out about. We are creating our own Wickes Driving Academy. This role will head up the function reporting into our Network Training Manager. By joining at the start of our journey you will help shape the future of the Academy and help “Drive” our colleagues through from Class B to Class C&E, making a brief pit stop at Class C1 and C on the way.

Salary £37,000 + Bonus of up to £75 per week + Great Company Benefits

Location Northampton with occasional travel to Crawley

Working Week - Monday to Friday 40 hours, with flexibility to work Saturdays if required

Key Responsibilities:

  • To oversee the day to day running of the Wickes Driving Academy

  • Carry Out Training at various licence classifications

  • Work with our LGV Training partner to book candidates in for their final vehicle familiarisation training and test

  • Work with our Class C&E driving simulator partners to gain interest in a driving career with Wickes and support training for colleagues in a safe environment

  • Book initial 35 hour CPC training course through our LGV Training Partner

  • Conduct ongoing CPC training for existing colleagues 

  • Lead the site assessors within our HND network and support our site assessors in the SDN network

  • Support external events such as Pride and Truckfest to raise awareness of wickes

  • Develop a program with local colleges to show students that there are alternative careers that they may not have previously thought of.

 

What are we looking for?

  • Good Maths/English

  • Good IT skills

  • Geographical knowledge

  • Working knowledge of WTD regulations

  • Good verbal communication skills

  • Great presentation and teaching/coaching skills

  • Cat C&E driving licence

  • Previous experience in home delivery ans store delivery roles is beneficial but not essential

  • Existing RTITB Training Certificates at Assessor or Instructor Level. Training can be provided

  • A team player who is able to build strong working relationships
