Finance Reporting Manager

We are looking to recruit a Finance Reporting Manager to join our wider Finance Team here in the Support Centre in Watford. This role will focus on supporting external financial statement preparations, whilst ensuring technical accounting compliance and a robust financial control framework to meet Plc Board, Audit Committee and external audit requirements.


This role is a key part of the external reporting function. Policies and processes in respect of all technical accounting compliance and reporting will need to be subjected to ongoing improvement and the wider business educated and engaged.


Key Responsibilities:

  • To deliver a set of consolidated financial statements for interim and full year reporting, in compliance with IFRS and best practice

  • Manage the balance sheet reconciliation review processes. Responsible for ensuring plc related transactions are correctly booked (share based payments, interest, dividends, intercompany and payroll)

  • Ensure processes are in place to assure compliance with accounting standards in particular relating to share based remunerations schemes

  • Perform the modelling processes to support interim and full year store and investment impairment testing

  • Build relationships within finance, the wider business (Commercial, Operations, Investor Relations, CoSec, HR) and with advisors to obtain a better understanding of the company’s activities

  • Oversee the preparation of statutory accounts for all legal entities within Wickes plc Group


What are we looking for:

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified ( More likely ACA given technical bias of the role 

  • 5+yrs PQE

  • Experience of listed plc reporting

  • Broad finance experience in a listed plc environment 

  • Thorough understanding /experience of listed company reporting requirements 

  • Ability to promote strong control environments and recommend system improvements 

  • Ability to communicate technically challenging issues in a simple yet effective and engaging manner 

  • Thorough understanding of accounting standards and developments 

  • Retail industry knowledge
