We are looking to recruit a Group Technical Accounting Manager to be responsible for accurate technical accounting and reporting across the Group, including ensuring that the financial statements of the Group and its subsidiaries align with prevailing accounting standards, are delivered punctually, and maintain a high standard of quality. This encompasses ensuring internal policies are appropriate, fit for purpose, and consistent with International accounting requirements as set out in IAS’s and IFRS’s. Furthermore, all accounting requirements must be captured and effectively communicated to the wider finance teams. This role entails accurate technical accounting across the group, including the drafting of technical accounting memos and ownership of the Group Accounting Policy. It also involves the delivery of a true and fair set of financial statements through the year-end audit process and effective engagement with External Auditors, as well as the month-end close process and reporting cycle through engagement and partnership with the wider finance teams to deliver an insightful close process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical accounting guidance: Act as the primary advisor on all IFRS and UK GAAP technical accounting issues for the business. Act as key contract for external audit over technical areas.
  • Take ownership of accounting for significant, one-off, and non-routine transactions. You'll prepare technical accounting papers and memorandums to document our positions and conclusions for circulation both internally and to our external auditors.
  • Responsible for researching, interpreting, and applying new and existing standards to our business operations, ensuring compliance and accuracy with IFRS and FRS 102. This involves assessing their impact, developing an implementation plan, and communicating changes to relevant stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain Group accounting policies: Be responsible for drafting and updating the company's accounting policies to reflect changes in accounting standards and business activities.
  • Work closely with the Financial Reporting Manager by playing an important role in the preparation and review of the company's interim and annual financial statements. This includes drafting key disclosures and ensuring they are accurate, complete, and compliant with all regulatory requirements.

What are we looking for:
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA)
  • 2+ years PQE
  • Proven expertise in IFRS technical accounting
  • Big 4 and/or FTSE listed business experience
  • IFRS & UK GAAP technical accounting knowledge
  • Technical accounting expertise, with an ability to write high quality accounting memos
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with very high attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical accounting concepts to finance and non-finance stakeholders
  • Proficiency in MS Office/Google with good Excel/Google Sheets skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with peers, wider Finance team Team, and senior stakeholders up to and including Group CFO
  • Enthusiastic, inquisitive, driven and proactive
