We are thrilled to be recruiting for an experienced data analyst to join the insight team on a 12 month contract to support us through a busy time.


Role purpose:

Following the demerger of Wickes last year, and the associated data and reporting changes, mean we are looking for some temporary support for the Analytics team. We are responsible for providing ad hoc analysis and reporting to ensure the customer is at the heart of all we do here at Wickes. We are looking for an adaptable, self-starting analyst with strong SQL skills (preferably in the cloud but not essential) and experience in analytics and reporting to join our small team. Our main aims are to support the business with advanced analytical and reporting skills, driving forward our customer understanding in these unprecedented times. We are a google based business so experience in this environment is useful but not essential.

Our Team aims to support Marketing teams and the wider business by delivering business critical analysis and reporting.  The areas we cover include Customer behaviour, shopping channel insight, Loyalty scheme data and a wide variety of other business metrics. 

The ideal candidate will be adaptable, have good time management, enjoy problem solving and have a cheerful demeanour. 


Key Accountabilities:

  • Work closely with the customer research team to put the customer at the heart of everything we do

  • Use our customer data to drive customer understanding to the whole of the business, creating reports and insight as required

  • Create and run reporting on TradePro, our Trade loyalty scheme, supporting this with additional insight and analysis to drive it forward for customers

  • Support reporting on our customer feedback to ensure the business hears what our customer think of us

  • Design and produce regular reporting to support decision making across the business

  • Provide analytical support on business questions across a wide range of topics

  • Investigate and present conclusions across a wide range of topics

  • Ensure the Marketing Teams are supported with data and insight into customer behaviour and cross channel metrics

  • Provide cross channel support to drive all parts of the multichannel offering forward


What are we looking for:

  • Education to degree level with at least A level Maths.

  • Numerical degree and spreadsheet or analytical language skills/Qualifications (preferred)

  • Previous use of SQL and reporting. Advanced data handling skills.

  • Google Cloud Platform experience, particularly BigQuery and Datastudio. Experience in a retail or Marketing function

  • Strong analytical skills combined with confident communication skills.

  • Knowledge from Retail or Marketing analytical positions.

  • Enthusiasm.

  • Takes ownership.

  • Self motivated, possessing the ability to encourage and motivate colleagues.

  • Takes genuine pride in what they contribute.
