Wickes are currently recruiting a National Accounts Manager both field based with some travel to our Watford Support Centre. Leading and developing the Business to Business proposition and strategy within the commercial team and TradePro.

In this senior role reporting to the Director of Strategic Procurement, the successful candidate will work with key stakeholders -  both internal stakeholders, external partners and experts supporting the companies long term strategy to grow our B2B proposition.

The Role

As National Accounts Manager, you will be responsible for leading the Business to Business team, supporting new and existing customer relationships, growing market share and developing profit growth opportunity within our B2B Unit objectives.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the day to day Business to Business unit within the defined customer market sectors.
  • Continually supports the development of the ‘Business to Business’ strategy that maximises sales and profit opportunities within market sectors and customer groups
  • Collaborative working relationships within all internal and external business partners and key stakeholders supporting TradePro growth
  • Lead and develop the appropriate infrastructure for Business to Business in the areas legal, commercial, marketing, operations, legal and finance
  • Define market share centric trading plans with all aspects of marketing & digital channels for accelerated TradePro membership growth
  • Deliver targeted initiatives that improve customer active membership activity through business sector understanding of the customer needs, future trends and legislation
  • Lead customer recruitment process and maintaining an accurate database management
  • Communication of business unit progress reports to business stakeholders

What will you bring?
  • Experienced leader with the strategic ability to develop the ‘Business to Business’ proposition, ideally with experience within the building materials sector and additionally any FM sector experience would be desirable
  • Strong commercial, sales and negotiation experience, supported with strong financial acumen
  • Customer membership related working experience
  • Working with profit & loss
  • Proven track record in ‘Business to Business’ unit leadership and sales development
  • Ability to balance financial goals with increased external expectations
  • Extensive sector knowledge, linked to trade membership schemes and high turnover customers
  • Self-motivated, resilient individual with a passion for working on own initiative under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills within board level and wider team - verbal and written
  • Sharing knowledge and consulting to build effective relationships based across the organisation
  • Proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft applications
  • Broad planning and Organisational skills supporting the ability to multitask
  • Enthusiasm and develops effective working relationships
  • Broad understanding of problem solving, new opportunities, creating debate and positive discussion
