Are you an experienced PR Manager looking to lead the strategy and implementation of the PR activity for an exciting, growing brand?

Do you want to work in a business which is collaborative, inclusive and fun as well as fast paced and high energy as you’d expect from a leading retailer?

If the answer is yes, Wickes has the role for you!

As PR Manager you’ll head up all of our ambitious PR plans within the marketing department at Wickes. You’ll manage a small in-house team along with our retained PR agency, in order to maximise the big opportunity that PR offers.

Based in our Watford Support Centre, (with some flexibility to work from home),  you’ll be responsible for all consumer and trade PR, (both proactive and reactive), our newly launched community programme and all of our brand monitoring activity. We’re increasingly using PR to raise awareness of Wickes and to inspire existing and new customers about our offering across the three different areas of the business; Showroom (kitchens and bathrooms), DIY and trade. You’ll take on a high profile role which relies on working closely with a number of senior stakeholders within Wickes to ensure we’re aligned in our responses and able to grow our online and offline reach and coverage.

It’s a very exciting time in Wickes’ history as following strong growth, particularly during the pandemic,  Wickes demerged from the Travis Perkins Group and now exists as a standalone FTSE 200 company. We recently delivered our first full year of results delivering record sales and profit.

Wickes’ culture is our best kept secret; it's a collaborative, down to earth, fun and inclusive environment where people feel part of a winning team. All our colleagues come from different backgrounds, but what we all have in common is a determination to succeed, and a passion for being the best we can be. If that sounds like you, we’ll make you feel right at home.

As the successful candidate you’ll likely have considerable experience (7+ years) in a PR role, ideally in house. You’ll have previous experience of managing an agency and be a natural networker with strong interpersonal skills. You’ll be collaborative, reliable and organised by nature and be able to demonstrate excellent written communication skills. You’ll have managed a team previously and had budget responsibility. Preferably, you'll be of  graduate calibre and have a background in retail.

We offer excellent benefits that help make Wickes a great employer including:

  • 20% company discount

  • 25 days holiday

  • Company bonus scheme

  • Pension scheme

  • Life Assurance

  • Health & Wellbeing, including Employee Assistance Programme
