Due to continued growth we have exciting opportunities for a Category C+E Driver Shunter to join our Kitchen and Bathroom Home Delivery network at our Northampton Distribution Centre.

Below are details around the shift patterns:


6am-2pm shift Pay £15:00 per hour with up to £75  weekly bonus 

2pm- 10pm Shift Pay £15.75 per hour with up to £75 weekly bonus


22:00 to 06:00 £16.50 PH plus up to £75 per week bonus

We will also consider newly passed test drivers.


The Shunter Driver is a key member of the distribution team working across both warehouse and transport functions. The shunter driver is responsible for the safe movement of vehicles on distribution  sites. This could include large goods vehicles (LGVs) or trailers, and can involve manoeuvring goods around site, into storage or loading bays, or to be picked up by other workers.The role may also require movements of loaded/unloaded vehicles between distribution sites. There may also be a requirement from time to time to support the transport team and make deliveries to stores or trunk loads to outbases Due to the nature of the role, a degree of flexibility is required 

the working hours as per business requirements. This means that when needed there is an expectation to work to early starts, evenings, Bank Holidays and weekends. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the safe movement of large vehicles and trailers around the distribution site 

  • Adhering to strict health and safety guidelines, reporting all hazard and near miss Incidents 

  • Dealing with fuel deliveries 

  • Completing Vehicle Trailer checks

  • Coupling and uncoupling of trailers 

  • Placing containers on and of dock levelers

  • Correct use of stop signs, wheel chocks and 5th wheel supports

  • Opening/closing curtains and strapping of loads as required

  • Ensuring Handovers between shifts

  • Ensuring that visiting drivers adhere to site rules

  • Placing Trailers on/off loading bays or loading pads  as required by the warehouse team

  • Moving Rigids vehicles around site after loading
