We’re looking for a Social Media Marketing Executive to join our social media team.  As a team, we’re responsible for making Wickes relevant for the next generation of DIY lovers, bringing to life our Kitchen and Bathroom transformations and highlighting our great offers and discounts to the Trade.


We’re excited to bring a new view, lots of creativity and a social-first mind to our team. Our Social Media Executive role is for  the TikToker, the Pinner, and the Instagrammer who is ready to put their social media knowledge into practice to drive engagement, sales and enquiries for Wickes. 


If this sounds like you, you'll be responsible for leading our organic social media strategy and delivering stand-out, thumb-stopping campaigns. You’ll champion social media within the business, publishing engaging content and helping us to be ahead of the curve on existing and emerging social channels.


Our social media team works with one of the largest global marketing agency networks and has strong relationships with key social media platforms. We are UK Social Media Award finalists and have case studies documenting recent campaign success. You’ll report to our Senior Social Media Manager. We take a flexible approach, working 3 days a week in the Watford Support Centre and 2 days from home. You may also work in London on occasion. 


What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead our organic content strategy, creating a content calendar that supports all 3 of our exciting customer propositions: DIY, Kitchens and Bathrooms and Trade.

  • Create engaging and compelling content for Wickes social media channels ensuring content is aligned with the brand tone of voice

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of social media accounts including organising the content calendar to support business objectives, creating posts and videos with our in-house studio, as well as writing and scheduling all posts/reels/stories. 

  • Work closely with our community management team of 8 to ensure all comments are picked up and responded to in a timely fashion.

  • Support on paid social media activity, briefing in creative designed to drive enquiries and sales 

  • Analyse and report back to the wider marketing team on key results and your recommendations for improving performance.

  • Encourage customers to share their DIY and Showroom projects with us on social media so that we can champion their images and videos across our marketing channels. 

  • Help to implement our influencer strategy. Build relationships with key creators and identify opportunities for content partnerships that support key business objectives. 

  • Stay up to date with the latest social media trends and share relevant information with the wider team 


What we are looking for in you: 

You’ll be a graduate or equivalent and have at least 3 years experience within a social media role,  ideally within a retail brand. When you apply, we'd love for you to submit 2 pieces of creative you've posted on social media.

As well as this: 

  • You’re organised, proactive, confident and resilient 

  • You are a true social media native, you post on Instagram Stories, you were the first to download Threads and you love binge-watching TikTok

  • Being creative comes naturally to you, you see something on social media and you immediately want to give it a go

  • You demonstrate excellent copywriting skills, with meticulous attention to detail

  • Experience with creative software such as Photoshop and Canva is beneficial

  • You’re organised, proactive, confident and resilient 

  • You’re a  natural networker - outgoing, confident and great at building relationships.

  • You have good analytical skills with the ability to draw insight from data

  • An interest in home renovation and interiors would be really beneficial.
