Are you looking to take your next step in your Wickes career? Do you have an interest in Security? We’re looking for a Trainee Security Investigator to join our Security team covering our Southern Region. (Ideal locations to live in would be Swindon, Newbury, Reading, M4 corridor).
What would I do as a Security Investigator?
Our Security Investigators deliver comprehensive specialist security support to the business which protects Company assets, and improves profitability through both proactive and reactive incident management and investigations across the Wickes estate.
You’ll be trained in all aspects of security from the end to end process of an investigation to covering prevention, awareness, compliance, detection, investigation and resolution.
This is a broad, busy role, and requires the ability to undertake travel across the Northern Region. A full driving licence is required.
What skills and qualities do I need to do the job?
We’re looking for someone who has good understanding of our business, along with demonstrating an ability for the following or willingness to learn:
> Gathering accurate information from data, physical evidence and witnesses
> Analysing information to uncover the facts
> Interviewing those concerned who may be victims, witnesses or suspects as part of the investigation process
> Be able to ask clear questions and recognise any gaps and discrepancies in a story and ask for clarification
> Be able to listen well and interpret body language well
> Maintaining control of your emotions but be able to show empathy and create a safe environment for someone to be able to share details
> You must be honest, ethical and law abiding, impartial at all times and flexible
> Being able to pick up new technology well and use it within your investigations
> Learning aspects of the law relevant to the role
> Being able to use critical thinking and problem solving skills
> Being able to conduct relevant research
> Being able to write impartial reports clearly and concisely which may be used in court
> Being able to work completely confidentially and always with the highest integrity
What training and support will I receive?
This is a trainee position and you’ll be supported along the way to become a Security Investigator. A lot of this will involve on-the-job training but you will also have the opportunity to gain the following qualifications:
>Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) qualification. Fortalice Solutions
>APCIP - BTEC Level 7 Advanced Professional Certificate in Investigative Practice: Investigative Law Evidence Procedure & Best Practice, Statement Writing and Giving Evidence, Employment Law and Investigations, Investigative Interviewing
>Conflict Management & Personal Safety in Retail-Oakwood Training
>Level 1 & 2 advanced Investigative Interviewing and suspect profiling techniques
